Mimi Whitfield, the editor of Business Monday, noted in her column that the Miami Herald is focusing on providing more information to small businesses on both the Internet and in the paper.
Whitfield wrote, “Over the past few weeks we’ve begun to create a small-business channel at MiamiHerald.com. Click on Today’s Extras and you’ll find our work in progress. You’ll find links to the Small Business Administration, the Small Business Development Center and other websites with resources that will help your business grow.
“We’ve also included all 12 installments of our series on a small-business start-up, The Cereal Bowl, which serves up dozens of varieties of cereal at a restaurant across from the University of Miami campus. There’s also a Cereal Bowl slide show.
“We hope that the setbacks and successes of the three young entrepreneurs behind The Cereal Bowl will provide guidance for your own business start-ups.
“There are also links to local schools that offer MBA programs and corporate websites that provide tips, tool and templates for small ventures.
“Next week we’ll be introducing a business marketing column.”

Great Idea! Glad to see that small business is getting recognized. The opportunity to work for oneself has never been greater than in today’s global economy. In addition, the general public needs to be educated on the facts that the cost of starting a small business has never been lower. Keep the excellent coverage coming!
